A console table is generally used to place decorative items, knick knacks, picture frames, candles, lamps, ferns etc. Accessorizing your console table can be so much fun and enhance the beauty of any room. A mix and match of accessories in colors that blend with the environs provide a perfect finishing touch. Console tables offer ample storage space taking care of daily paper clutter and lots of other stuff which needs to be stashed in. They help fill up awkward and empty spaces in any room and prove to be a double bonus. Taking care of the clutter and taking care of the beauty at the same time.

Depending upon where they are placed, console table accessories and colors need to match. Generally glass and white accessories are a safe option at all places. For a bright look, try using colors already in use in the room, perhaps of a stronger shade. If the console table is in the foyer, books especially hard bound or coffee table books are powerful styling tools. Books should be stacked up in piles of two or four, with the largest and heaviest at the bottom. Casually strew an hour glass or a candle on top. Adds a touch of class to the console table and leaves a lasting impression on any visitor.

Choose your accessories with care. Begin with an orchid or a tall vase in the center for height. Fill the vase with flowering branches such as Magnolias or Tiger Lilies. Set a lamp/candle behind so that the glow is partially covered by the flowering branches. This arrangement on a console table placed behind a sofa or a love-seat generates a romantic ambiance. Crystal musical instruments or animal’s viz. cygnets in pairs or a triangular formation placed in front grace your console table to perfection.

This contrast in size and shape, light and shade, height and depth permits your console table to yield a profound effect invariably – a masterpiece no less!!!

For the console table located in your bedroom or the study, one needs to layer the knick knacks to the front and some to the back of the table working outward from your highest point. This lends an asymmetrical look and gives the console table movement. Small silvery wicker trays with fragrant candles amidst wreathe or flat dishes with floating candles or flower petals endow a soft look. Keep moving and mixing in new pieces on the console table in different planes and asymmetrical lines to achieve a refined look you’ll simply cherish. Have fun!!!
