Are Console Tables Expensive

Indisputably, console tables are very useful in the home as functional and aesthetic furniture. This is a fact that has been known for hundreds of years. However, while a lot of families will like to own one of these pieces in the home, they are often deterred from doing this because of the perceived cost. A lot of people tend to assume that furniture like console table will be naturally expensive. As such they don’t even bother to find out whether it’s possible to find cheap tables. However, as a furniture enthusiast (especially classical furniture), and also an economist who likes to get the best value for money spent and a friend to Mario, I agreed to write this piece for his blog to enlighten people about the cost of console tables.

To start with, just like any other item, console tables can be expensive and they can also be cheap. The price of any item is subject to several economic or market factors. Some of these factors include demand, supply, manufacturing costs, shipping costs, macroeconomics, artificial pricing and several other economic jargons I don’t want to bore you with. As such, this implies that the cost of console tables and any item generally is subject to the interplay of these factors and can be safely assumed to be relative. Thus, answering the question of whether a console table is expensive cannot be done arbitrarily. It will require an examination of these factors. However, I’m sure your concern in asking this question is so as to know if you can get console tables cheaply. Here, my answer is an unequivocal yes! So how do you go about this?

If you are working on a limited budget, then I’ll suggest that you go for a simple design. Elaborately designed console tables tend to cost more (I know), so an effective way of cutting cost is to purchase a simply designed table. This also doesn’t mean that your home won’t still look great with these tables. Another method is to go for veneers if you want wooden console tables. A veneer cherry console table for example will cost less than a solid cherry one. A third method of getting cheap console tables is to shop at used furniture stores especially those selling antiques. A fourth method is to shop online on auction and discount furniture sites. So there’s actually nothing stopping you from getting one of these tables!
