This is another common way people use when trying to find the correct console table to buy for their house. There are always many advertisements in newspapers and magazines selling such tables and you can find almost anything you are looking for. The good thing about this method is that normally, on top of the big variety that you will find, you will also be able to find low prices. When people put such advertisements in newspapers and magazines, it is normally for two reasons. The first reason is that they may be leaving their house and they are trying to make some money from furniture they no longer want. Console tables are usually sold as they are very easy to find. Another reason why they sell console tables in such a way is that they are not sure that they will fit well in their new houses. They choose to sell them in order to buy new ones when they move so that they can be certain that they will choose the correct ones. Console tables are never the main piece of furniture of someone’s living room. They are a complimentary piece of furniture that usually accompanies something else such as a sofa. Another reason why they choose to place advertisements for a console table in newspapers and magazines is that they have bought a new one and no longer need their old console table. Both reasons must show you that they just want to make a few bucks by getting rid of something they don’t need. It is very rare that someone makes a living by placing such ads. This means that normally you will be able to find bargains in such ads. A disadvantage of newspaper and magazine ads is that usually they don’t include pictures of what is being sold. This means that you need to do is make an appointment and go check out the console table yourself. On the other hand, this can also be an advantage in one way as photographs can sometimes be misleading and tricky. You should always be certain about what you are buying before any money comes out of your pocket.

Almost every method I have outlined in these articles can work great if used correctly. Always make sure that you know everything about the console table you are buying, and I would strongly recommend that if there is any way to see it with your own eyes then this is what you should do. Age of the console table

The age of the console table is a very important factor in order to understand why its price is at the level it is. If a console table is two hundred years old, it can cost up to a small, or even a large, fortune. Of course, as with any of the factors I am going to examine, the age of a console table means nothing by itself. You need to consider everything together before you decide if the table is worth the price you are paying.

History of the console table

This is a also very important thing. A console table may seem worthless at first but, if you find out that it is attached to a certain history, its value can explode. Imagine being able to buy a table that was used by someone like Napoleon for planning his battles or by Leonardo da Vinci for working on his designs. Of course what I mentioned here would probably not be console tables but a console table can also be attached with history. It can come from a famous or historic person’s house for example and this definitely attaches value to it. Every household uses console tables so as you understand you will be able to find pieces that will have extraordinary stories attached to them.

Sentimental value of the console table

This part is a little tricky. Any console table can increase in value when consider the sentimental value that its owner attaches to it. My opinion is that you should probably stay away from such situations. It could cost a lot of money for no apparent reason. The owner’s sentimental value for the console table is something that has nothing to do with you or your collection. Of course on the other hand, it may be the case that a specific piece has sentimental value for some reason for you. In such a case, you have to decide how much you are willing to spend in order to make it yours. Whatever you decide to do, my opinion is that you always have to be careful before you make the purchase and you have to think twice.

As you understand, all of the above qualities of a console table are hard to understand if you don’t know enough about the specific piece of furniture. The only way to overcome this fact is to make some research in the console table you are planning on getting before you take any money out of your pocket.

The next method we are going to discuss is online stores. You will be able to find many different online stores just by making a simple search in Google for console tables so I will not list any here. I think that buying a console table through an online store can be a very tricky thing to do so read everything and decide for yourselves.

Online stores

Online stores are always a good choice for a buyer. You can find virtually everything on the internet and console tables are not different. The variety available online is endless. My opinion is that you should take enough time to search many different stores and sites on the internet before you make any decision as you may almost always find something that you look even better. Again here, as in any other method, there are both advantages and disadvantages. One serious disadvantage is that online stores normally use professional photographers for obvious reasons. A professional photographer can make any console table look amazing in a photograph. This does not mean that they are trying to trick us necessarily, but this is what they are paid for, to take beautiful photographs.

There is a huge variety of online stores selling console tables in every country so make sure that you search enough to find the best one. Another disadvantage that you may think of is the fact that most times you have to pay online using a credit card. Many people think that paying online is not safe. I don’t totally disagree, but I can guarantee that there have been crazy efforts by everyone to make online payments safer and things are safer than ever. Especially online stores use services that can guarantee that your payment is safe and that nothing will happen to your details. You can look for the logos of the companies that certify safe payments at the bottom of most online stores’ websites. I don’t think that this is something that you should be scared to use but to reassure yourself if you are, look for the logos that I’m talking about. Remember that there is big advantage if you decide to shop online for a console table and this is the enormous variety that you will find. This is not something you can neglect as we always want to find the perfect piece for our house. You will be able to find many modern console tables here as online stores will usually have all the latest pieces.

Methods To Buy Your Console Table

When you consider buying a new console table or even a couple of console tables for your home or collection there are a few methods you need to consider. I will try to explain the advantages and disadvantages each of the methods I’m going to examine has. I urge you to read everything so that you have knowledge about all of them before you decide which method to choose.

I’m going to consider 7 main methods that I believe to be the best so that your choice can become easier. These will be:

a) Online Auction Websites
b) Online Stores
c) Craigslist
d) Estate Sales
e) Auctions
f) Famous Furniture Stores
g) Newspaper And Magazine Ads

Since it would take a huge article to include all of them, I will try to divide this article into a few parts as I understand that many of you just want to read about one or two of the methods and you don’t want to go on and read everything and then decide. Even though I can totally understand this, I believe that this is not the correct way to go. I think that when it comes to console tables, you need to see the whole picture so that you choose the option that suits you best. However, since I understand that many of you don’t have the time or patience to read a huge article, I’m going to make it in parts.

For now, I will start with online auction websites such as eBay.

Online Auction Websites

This is probably the only method that I would recommend that you don’t use when you are looking to buy a console table. The arguments for this statement are many. The disadvantages are the same as the online stores that I mentioned before and, moreover, you won’t find the same variety no matter what. As I told you before, people usually choose to sell console tables because they don’t need them anymore. An online auction however is very rarely the method people prefer to use for console tables. The reasons are simple. The seller will need to pay a certain percentage to the auction website and, in some cases; they will even have to pay shipping costs. So as you understand, selling a console table through an online auction website is not a seller’s first choice. On the other hand, if you are able to find a console table you love on an online auction website, then you should probably get it without second thought. I believe that if a person has chosen to use this method to sell his console table, it must mean that he doesn’t really care about how much money he will get so you may be able to spot a good bargain. Experiment for yourselves and let me know how it goes. Another thing I want to add here is that online auction websites is not the best way to find a modern console table as most console tables you will find will be older models. This however doesn’t mean that you will never be able to find one so take the time to search.
