The only difference is that a drop leaf table’s top is usually in three parts. The two parts on the sides have the ability to drop, making the table smaller in size. This could prove to be very useful in many cases as it can save you space on one hand and on the other hand, when you need to, you can expand your drop leaf table and you could easily use it as you would use any other table.

Drop leaf tables are very useful when it comes to having people coming over at your house for dinner. Imagine a situation where you have a table that could accommodate 6 to 8 people but you want to invite far more than that, let’s say 12 to 14. Remember that we always need to add two extra people to the amount of people that we think are going to attend just to be on the safe side. In this situation, you need to accommodate at your place 6 more people than you are able to, so what could you do? This is a typical example when a drop leaf table can prove to be extremely useful. So now you know what to do when you don’t have enough space on your table for a few extra guests. A drop leaf table can really make your life easier in that way and they can also look amazing.
