A simple research on the internet will provide you with tons of names and information about these houses. These pieces may be worth a lot of money and I am one hundred per cent certain that you will be able to find some in the hands of people who know nothing about their real value. These are bargains that you cannot afford to miss when you decide to create a collection for yourself.

All the information I listed above are the most common things that you need to consider in order to determine the value of any console table you are thinking of purchasing. Remember that everything is in the details so try to be as careful as possible. There is no reason why you should spend more money than the real value of the table. I believe that if you examine what I have explained here, you will be able to make a quite accurate estimate of the value of any console table. The age of the console table is a very important factor in order to understand why its price is at the level it is. If a console table is two hundred years old, it can cost up to a small, or even a large, fortune. Of course, as with any of the factors I am going to examine, the age of a console table means nothing by itself. You need to consider everything together before you decide if the table is worth the price you are paying.

History of the console table

This is a also very important thing. A console table may seem worthless at first but, if you find out that it is attached to a certain history, its value can explode. Imagine being able to buy a table that was used by someone like Napoleon for planning his battles or by Leonardo da Vinci for working on his designs. Of course what I mentioned here would probably not be console tables but a console table can also be attached with history. It can come from a famous or historic person’s house for example and this definitely attaches value to it. Every household uses console tables so as you understand you will be able to find pieces that will have extraordinary stories attached to them.

Sentimental value of the console table

This part is a little tricky. Any console table can increase in value when consider the sentimental value that its owner attaches to it. My opinion is that you should probably stay away from such situations. It could cost a lot of money for no apparent reason. The owner’s sentimental value for the console table is something that has nothing to do with you or your collection. Of course on the other hand, it may be the case that a specific piece has sentimental value for some reason for you. In such a case, you have to decide how much you are willing to spend in order to make it yours. Whatever you decide to do, my opinion is that you always have to be careful before you make the purchase and you have to think twice.

As you understand, all of the above qualities of a console table are hard to understand if you don’t know enough about the specific piece of furniture. The only way to overcome this fact is to make some research in the console table you are planning on getting before you take any money out of your pocket.

As I’m sure all of us can understand, as in anything, quality is a very important factor when considering the price of a console table. The better the quality of the table, the more expensive it will be. Quality is one of those factors that it is almost impossible to neglect in any case. The only good thing about this is that many times, sellers cannot evaluate the quality of the table precisely so there are many bargains out there to find.

Condition of the console table

Console tables are generally strong pieces of furniture. Even though that is true, they also need a certain amount of care. There are tables that can withstand almost anything but there are others that are very delicate and may suffer from many things such as age, weather conditions or negligence. This is very important for your collection as well. It is not enough just to collect the correct pieces. You need to understand that you need to be able to take care of your collection in such a way, that all of your pieces will remain in a good condition. Even the smallest crack can reduce the value of a table heavily. This needs both time and money and you need to know this before you start collecting. At this point I have to add a very important thing. If you are serious about your console table collection, then there are two choices for you. This is definitely very time consuming but, if you are serious about it, you will find out that you will learn some very interesting things. The other option you have is to hire an expert to work for you when you consider buying a piece. A console table expert is someone who will provide you with tons of help. They know everything that one needs to know about the subject and they will be able to evaluate your options and let you know which the best way to go is. My opinion, however, is that the best choice is to learn yourself. You may not be able to reach the level of an expert very soon, but after a while you will also become a console table expert yourself and no one will be able to trick you into buying something that is just not worth it.
