Medium Dining Table and Chairs

Another very important factor you should consider when buying a new dining table and chairs is size. Make sure that you don’t confuse size with capacity. Capacity is concerning the amount of people that your table is designed to accommodate. Size on the other hand is concerning the amount of space that your dining table and chairs will require. You need to make sure that there is enough space in the room that you are planning to place the furniture in.

Size of your dining table and chairs

This is a very important part as well. The size of your dining table and chairs should be appropriate for the room you are planning to place it in. It is not unusual for a table to hold 14 people. On the other hand, not every living room is able to accommodate a dining table and chairs of such size. My suggestion here is to take measurements for everything. Let’s assume that you have found the dining table and chairs that you were looking for in terms of capacity. The correct second step would be to measure their dimensions and make sure that you also measure the space you have available for your dining table and chairs. Keep in my mind that the space available should be much larger than the actual table as the chairs will need enough space for people to be able easily to stand up and sit down. I would suggest that you allow about ¾ of a meter in all directions for the chairs.

You need to understand that this is not something that you can estimate. Estimations are not even close to being good enough. There is nothing more disturbing than an empty room and, on the other hand, the same holds for a room that you are not able to walk in. You need to make sure that you create a perfect balance between your furniture and the empty spaces between and around them. The most common mistake that people make is the one I mentioned in the previous paragraph. They don’t allow enough space for the chairs to move and this creates a hazard. If you think about it, it is not rare that someone who wants to leave the table, in his effort to stand up, takes the tablecloth with him. This can ruin a perfect evening that you have been planning for a while which would just be a shame. Take the time to measure all the dimension of your dining table and chairs so that you can prevent such an event from happening.
